Holistic Human Development & Performance

This really should have been my first post because it describes my brand and what I stand for.

My goal in life is to live my most fulfilling and impactful life and to inspire and empower others do the same. It has taken me some time to untangle my thoughts and organize them into a framework I’ve unconsciously used to be able to perform my best, and continually work towards living a more fulfilling and impactful life. The term I use to describe this framework is Holistic Human Development. It is what I feel like my purpose is here - to always work towards it for myself and help others in their pursuit of it.

I believe that through Holistic Development we can tap into our potential, allowing us to perform our best, and live our most fulfilling and impactful lives.

So below I am going to briefly describe what Holistic Human Development is, how I have and will continue to use it as a framework to live a life of great success, joy, fulfillment, and inner peace - and how you can too.

What is “Holistic Human Development and Performance”?

It is an ongoing process of self realization, healing, growth, and evolution involving our whole being - mind, body, and spirit. This process allows us to realize our truth and live it so we can serve others with our gifts and contribute to the world, creating wealth and abundance for ourselves in the process.

Healing

Spiritually, psychologically, or emotionally wounded people can not perform their best in the arena of life, the same way an injured athlete can’t perform their best in the arena of their sport. Healing is the first step to development and performance.

Inner wounds are woven into our minds through what we believe to be true about ourselves on an unconscious level. Since our inner world (state of mind, feelings, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, attitudes etc.) reflects and manifests our physical reality - these inner wounds not only significantly limit us in our lives, they also manifest all physical ailments, injuries and illnesses in our lives.

Common unconscious thoughts, beliefs, and fears that stem from inner wounds are:

  • Feeling inadequate (not feeling like enough - lack of self worth)

  • Fear of lack (because they feel they are not enough - they feel lack, so they attract and fear scarcity)

  • Fear of not being accepted (they don’t accept themselves because they don’t feel like enough, so they fear others won’t accept them)

We all have inner wounds, it’s our job to figure out what they are and heal them so they no longer hold us back.

In a future post I will discuss more about these inner wounds, how they govern our behavior as adults, and how these behaviors manifest undesirable outcomes.

Development

The first step to development is Detachment.

Detachment is key to realizing your truth and being able to live your purpose. In order to live your truth (the key to inner fulfillment and contribution) you need to be your authentic self. This requires self actualization and awakening which may destroy the identity you’ve given yourself.

Detaching from the limiting perceptions that you have of yourself, letting go of who you are not (who you’ve been trying to be), will let you live life as your true, authentic self. This is one of the most important things you can do.

In this process you begin to appreciate your worth, you stop acting out of fear, you stop holding back because of what others might think, and you align yourself with a greater power. You flow with creative life forces, and limitless potential is at your finger tips. This is what you are, limitless potential, conscious awareness, divine intelligence covered up by the mud of the world and the ego we were all born with. As long as a person remains attached to their identity, thoughts, emotions, and the physical world they will be unable to see this - only through detachment and awakening can you realize this truth.

After detaching from what we are not, we are better able to tune into our inner guidance. Through this we can realize our soul’s purpose, and upon this realization we can begin to develop our gifts, necessary skills, as well as appropriate mindsets, and attitudes that will help us fulfill our purpose.

Some ways to grow and develop yourself:

  • Act on your fears

  • Get outside your comfort zone daily

  • Try new things

  • Fill your mind with positive material (books, videos, podcasts)

  • Focus on developing your gifts

  • Act on your new found awareness

  • Journal

  • Face yourself (the parts of you that you don’t want to face)

Performance:

Performance: The action or process of carrying out or accomplishing an action, task, or function.

To me, true performance in life, is the extent to which we fulfill our soul’s purpose and therefore, our inner potential. We can’t do this to the best of our ability without Holistic Development (healing, detachment, and internal growth).

When we have taken responsibility for our healing, learned to detach from form, come to understand our true nature, and realize our life purpose, we can begin to choose actions that help us grow and develop so we can perform better (ie. fulfill our purpose). Performance then, is the ongoing act of carrying out our divine purpose through the process of holistic development.

The longer we chase money, fame, power, material possessions out of ego, rather than following our internal guidance to fulfill our purpose and potential, the longer we put off living our best life. This is because when we live our true purpose we tap into a power much greater than ourselves, and in this we serve others with much more impact, our contribution is greater, and we feel fulfilled.

Following your souls purpose will take you to your highest potential - the truest form of performance in life.

Ways in which we can perform better:

  • Know the difference between your ego’s desires and your soul’s purpose

  • Always listen to your inner guidance

  • Take action

  • Be consistent with your action

  • Be a student of life (know that everything in life is a teacher - learn the lessons)

Summary

In summary Holistic Human Development is a way of life that allows you to have an expansive, abundant, and fulfilling life by helping you realize your truth, and grow to be the person that can bring it to fruition.

In future posts I will be discussing each aspect of Holistic Human Development in more depth - stay tuned!
